We offer an enormous variety of activities to students on a daily basis that we feel bring a range of benefits and opportunities. These activities occur before school, at lunch time or after school. Participation is voluntary in all cases. We do not charge for extra curricular clubs.
First Aid (Accredited Course)
All Year 11 students can follow an Adult First Aid qualification that is valid for 3 years.
In Year 10 students receive training in how to use a defibrillator and how to deliver CPR.
A variety of healthy food and drinks, both hot and cold are served in the school dining hall every morning from 8.00am until 8.30am.
Music, street dance, drama and guitar are amongst those activities offered for students who feel stronger and more confident in creative activities.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
This is offered at two levels Bronze & Silver.
Games are provided in the Library every morning from 8.00am – 8.30am. Students are able to enjoy playing games in a safe setting prior to commencing the days work.
A calm, supervised environment in the library allows students to do their homework using College resources and computers. This is held every evening from 3.15pm until 4.00pm.
Opportunities to pursue particular interests
These are varied may include chess, ICT or Art and Design.
Paired Reading Scheme
Year 10 students work alongside Year 7 students to improve reading skills.
Physical Education & Sports
A wide variety of sports are offered for all students. They may be single or mixed gender, competitive or non competitive situations.
Advice on how to study / revise and help with coursework etc. is offered to Key Stage 4 students using the college ICT facilities on most days after school.
Subject Based Activities
Most subjects offer sessions for the students to pursue their interests and receive extra guidance from the teaching staff.
All of the above activities are published to the students on the plasma screens throughout the college.
In addition to the daily activities outlined above students are also offered many other opportunities, activities and trips that take place at different times throughout the year.

Extra-curricular activities have started!
65 activities and clubs are already being offered to our students this term. They are advertised both on the plasma screens around the college and the new school website http://www.soarvalley.leicester.sch.uk/. They do change termly so keep checking.
Students can also collect a paper copy of what is on offer this term from student reception. Please do encourage your child to attend and log their hours in their Learning passport. All activities are FREE.
Leicester Riders Basket Ball
The Leicester Riders are running FREE coaching sessions in the Sports hall every Monday 4.15 – 5.15 for all students in Y7 – Y11 for Girls & Boys. It’s a real chance to improve your skills with the professionals!
