Welcome to Key Stage 4

This week saw all Year 10 students take part in our SVC KS4 transition event. The purpose of the event is to prepare them for the specific GCSE challenges they will encounter in making the step up in Key stage and begin to get ready for GCSEs.

Year 10 students were introduced to the specifics of their brains and how they will be able to best utilise them. They were challenged to think about their personal goals, sharing what they want to achieve and how they will get there. They were introduced to what high quality revision looks like and were given an introduction into how we will support them in managing stress and maintaining their well-being.

These sessions will be further developed throughout Key Stage 4 as part of our Tutor Programme. This will involve exploring further revision techniques, planning of revision timetables and strategies to relieve and manage anxiety and stress.

We were also very pleased to see a fantastic turn out at the parents’ equivalent event on the evening of 4th September. The evening included developing an understanding of the new GCSE grading system, introduction to key staff and providing SVCs Top Ten tips on how parents can support their child throughout KS4.
