Year 9 STEM Event

On Tuesday morning 66 year 9 girls took part in a virtual event hosted by Stemettes, a social enterprise which encourages girls aged 5–22 to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

The event, held on Ada Lovelace Day, was hosted by Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE and featured lightning talks by Chloe Taylor, Jacinda Fahey and Sam Rouse. The students heard about how these women, who currently have successful careers in STEM, faced challenges in male dominant fields but also how they overcame those challenges and thrived.

They encouraged our students to take risks and to be more confident, to see coding as a creative discipline and to reconsider what a career in STEM actually looks like.
