Space Engineering for Women

On the 7th of March 4 of our students had the opportunity to take part in the Space Engineering for Women day at the National Space Centre. The day was sponsored by the charity WISE, who hope to inspire and interest in engineering and other STEM areas in young women. While at this event, the girls gained second place for an atmosphere re-entry probe for a space ship, which they had built and tested for themselves.

The most exciting part of the day was when Princess Anne, the WISE charity patron, came to visit the workshop and meet the girls. She spoke to them about their interest in science and asked about what future careers they would like to pursue in that area. The girls were excited by having a member of the royal family take an interest in them, and have been further inspired to work towards STEM careers.
